Peerlink National Technical Assistance Center announces Alternatives 2016, the 30th national mental health conference organized by and for mental health consumers/survivors, will be held in San Diego, California at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center.
Workshops will be selected from the following topical categories:
Promising Practices in Peer-Run Programs & Peer Delivered Services -
Culturally-specific programming (i.e. veteran to veteran, youth to youth); innovations within the field; practices that promote peer services; peer-run organizational development, peer specialists, and other peer workforce development
Leadership Development -
Non-profit management Board of Directors development, building and sustaining your 501c3; promoting individual leadership; organizational and leadership sustainability
Whole Health & Wellness -
Culturally-responsive health & wellness strategies; holistic nutrition, healthcare integration; understanding and improving your physical health and overall health
Social Justice & Advocacy -
Social issues that affect the peer community; history of social justice and civil rights movements; advocacy
Using Technology in Support of Recovery -
Using Social Media assistive technologies to promote inclusion; utilizing technology to promote recovery
Youth & Young Adult -
Innovations in youth and young adult programs; promoting youth/young adult leadership
Older Adult -
Issues that impact quality of life (mental health, physical health, occupation, relationships) for older adults and innovative programs that improve these issues
Multiple Pathways to Recovery -
Mindfulness; meditation; massage; exercise; artistic expression; companion animals; yoga
Economic Health & Recovery -
Employment; financial self-sufficiency; overcoming poverty & income inequality
